The Fences Series begins with landscape paintings inspired by structures that cut across the field of view. A fence is a physical device that divides space and interrupts visual flow - yet precisely because of this interruption, it invites the viewer to imagine what lies beyond. I began treating the fence as a kind of frame, and sought to paint a world that expands from the very edge of a blocked gaze - an imagined landscape unfolding just past the boundary.
